September 21st - 25th

Here's a peek at our week....

Preschool
The theme for this week in the preschool room  is "Barnyard Animals". Students began making their own little barnyard animals using paint today! What do you think these will be when finished?

Kindergarten
Students completed their Mondrian Inspired pieces this week! We used squares and rectangles as well as vertical and horizontal lines. Ask the students to see if they remember all the shapes and lines, I have a good feeling they will! We finished the piece with painted lines, so for this project we explored: tracing, name writing, cutting along a line, using the glue bottles correctly, and using paint.

^^ what lovely lines and motor skills

1st grade
Students completed their Mondrian Inspired pieces this week. The process was very similar to the process used in kindergarten, which makes this project a great review at the start of the year.

2nd grade

We were able to put most of the pieces of our project together this week! There was a lot of listening and gluing. Some people got a little "glue crazy", we will have to remember to use little dots of glue in the future. Students are excited to see their projects coming together and so close to completion.

3rd grade

Students worked on adding line work and cutting out more of the pieces for their projects. We are making progress!

4th grade

We spent about half the class discussing and planning the drawing contest we are entering! Your child should have brought home information and a permission slip for the contest, the theme is "My Favorite Place in America". After the discussion students worked on adding more lines to their colorful landscapes.

5th grade

The sharpie line work on the landscapes is coming along nicely!

6th grade
Students are adding the zentangle designs to their letter project and I am feeling impressed with their ideas and careful work!

7th grade
We took a break from the drawings to begin the Saint Sculpture project. We looked at images of actual sculptures and statutes of Saints to notice the way artists show fabric, hair and other important details. Students then begin the dry newspaper portion of the project. There are a lot of good ideas in the works!!

8th grade

Students began their animal zentangle drawings this week. The first step is to choose a pitot of an animal and draw the outline of that animal. The second step is to use zentangles to show the shadows, highlights and features of the animal.
