Preschool Barnyard Animals

Following Mrs. Fulmer's "Barnyard Animals" theme, preschool students created barnyard animals in art class!

We tested our cutting, tracing and painting skills to create a baby chick, rooster and pig.

2nd Grade : Jellyfish

2nd grade students are using tempera paint, watercolor paint and tissue paper to create jellyfish in the ocean. This is a cross curricular lesson, the 2nd grade teachers are reading stories and teaching about jellyfish in the classroom.

Day 1: Tempera paint in cool colors. We discuss cool colors and students use shades of blue and purple to create their ocean background.

^ the ladies above experimented with mixing the different shades and named this color "qua qua"!

4th Grade: Pastel Pumpkins

Happy Fall! 4th grade is working on Pastel Pumpkins. We are using black paper and oil pastels. Each student drew their own pumpkin, so every piece will be different! After we worked on drawing, I demonstrated how to layer different colors of oil pastel to create light areas, highlights and dark areas of a pumpkin. Students are still working on the beginning layers of their colors!

1st Grade: Apples on Tablecloth

1st Grade students completed their apple themed projects for this year!

We explored pattern, color mixing, painting, drawing and cutting/pasting. This is always a fun project for me and the students get excited with the outcome!

4th Grade : My Favorite Place in America Drawing Contest

4th Grade students participated in the Northampton County Bar Association's "My Favorite Place in America" drawing contest again this year. Art work was completed and sent off for judging last week!

Here are some quick snapshots of the work that students completed for the contest. I am so proud of all of the hard work our students put into this contest. I'm praying that the judges can see their talents and that Holy Family School can get a few winners this year!

As a teacher it is always rewarding to have a student take a step back from a piece they deemed "finished" and realize they can further improve upon it. Below, see how much the student improved her work!

Nazareth Center for the Arts : Dimensional Painting

My students at Nazareth Center for the Arts are working on a Dimensional Painting. We are creating forest scenes and adding paper mache and other mediums to build up a dimensional, textured background.

5th grade One Point Perspective Aquariums

F5th grade students learned about one point perspective and used that knowledge to create Aquarium scenes!

We worked together to set up the page and create the tiled floor in one point perspective. Students were excited to see how they could create something with depth!

Then, students draw their own sea life on a separate sheet of paper, colored with colored pencils and cut out and glued to the sea life into their aquariums.

Look out for these displayed at our Art Show in April!

7th Grade Saint Sculptures

7th Grade Students have begun working on their Confirmation Saint Sculptures!  This is a fun traditional project that our 7th graders complete each year for our Heavenly Hallway All Saint's Day Celebration. Check back for updates and photos of their progress!
